All4Nothin Band

all4nothinband.com

All4Nothin is a band based in St. Louis that primarily plays small venue events, such as weddings and wineries. They needed a website refresh that would showcase their offerings and inform users of upcoming events. For this project, the focus was on balancing design and functionality to achieve the user goals of learning about upcoming events and booking the band for gigs.

After conducting usability tests on the previous website (pictured below) and discussing with the band members about their needs, I landed on some key tasks: the site map needed to be reorganized, the content needed to be updated, and the overall design and aesthetics needed a fresh take. Another one of the main asks from the band was the ability to edit the content of the website without knowledge of web code.

Old website

The final website is relatively simple, consisting of 6 pages; home, about, event information, schedule, media, and contact. I rewrote most of the copy for the website, and compiled a more extensive resource of quotes from clients. I also updated the website with videos and photography I took of the band performing at various events. Previously, users had described the website as "feeling like a bunch of old dads that probably play outdated music". Now, it has a fresh, clean feel, and it feels like you can trust All4Nothin to liven up the dance floor at a wedding reception or provide the perfect backdrop to a night at the bar with friends.

The home page opens up with a video of the band performing to bring life to the page and show the band in action. It includes footage from several different gigs to show the variety and tenor of the band.

This floating box feature was a fan fav; it automatically displays the next show, and floats with the user down the screen.

song list

The song list is something that is frequently requested from potential clients, but since the band has a robust repertoire, it was important to find a way to showcase it so that it didn’t take up the whole page. It was also important that the band members would be able to easily add or remove songs to this list. The solution was this embedded table, which fits snuggly into the height of the window and is linked to an external Google Sheet only accessible by members of the band. Changes made to the Sheet will be reflected immediately on the website.

The calendar is also an extremely important aspect of the website since this is where all upcoming gigs are listed. This page pulls data directly from a Google Calendar only accessible to band members and populates the page with the information; band members can create events on the Calendar, and changes will be reflected immediately on the page.
